iPhone kid app request confusion - not a clue what I am doing

This is my eldest child so first time trying to sort all of this.

I have given my son my old phone, set him up on the family thing and he has to request apps and purchases,

Today he requested an app, I saw on his phone that an app request had been sent to the account holder (me) but nothing came up on my phone and I don't know where to find it.

Could anyone advise in extremely simple terms please?

Some of those type of things also let you put the password in on your childs device directly, eg the child get the option to 'send the request' or 'ask in person'

Check your notification settings to make sure you have notifications enabled for the App Store.
