Aah soft play!

Took DS to soft play in France as it is absolutely pelting it down today. It's just like the UK. The noise! The crazy older kids!
DH chased 2YO DS around while I sat down as 8mo pregnant and the noise was just utterly deafening.

Anyone else just loathe it?! But also know how much the DC love it so endure anyway? Think it's the lack of natural light that's particularly unbearable!

Not me, sorry. I'm a childminder and I consider our weekly soft play session to be one of my gym sessions for the week 😂

I hate it too. It gets easier when they're a bit older and don't need constant following round in there and you can sit with a coffee.

I love soft play! I take my DGC at least weekly and we have so much fun. The best bit, though, is that it was only by squeezing through a couple of foam rollers after my DGS that I discovered a breast lump. That was eighteen months ago -I've since had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy and am in really good health now. I think soft play probably saved my life!

It's much better when they are old enough for you to join the coffee drinking, cake eating, kindle reading parents. 😂

purpleme12 · 23/07/2023 18:40

I've always liked soft play 😳

justanothermanicmonday1 · 23/07/2023 18:49

Hate it too 🤣

Sprogonthetyne · 23/07/2023 18:59

We like a softplay, but not on a rainy weekend during summer holidays.

I've never understood why people hate it.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 23/07/2023 19:11

As per @GigiAnnna and @gingerrcat it's hellish till they're about 6 when you can basically just sit with earbuds in for an hour eating cake, drinking coffee and waiting for it to end. An occasional visit from your child to eat a bite of cake or glug some fruit shoot then off they run. Took DD (9yo) to a trampoline park the other day, she made friends with a couple of girls that were there so that was that, I just got a very occasional 'hi mum, did you see me on the .........' and 2 hours of reading my book.

Such germ infested pits 🤢 hate hate hate them. If I wanted noisy chaos I'd just stay home for free.

PuttingDownRoots · 23/07/2023 19:14

I loved soft play when mine were toddlers. Mainly because DH used to take them on a Saturday morning while I had some peace and quiet!!!

MrsMoastyToasty · 23/07/2023 19:16

The only one I have ever liked was in a pub we stopped at purely by chance.
It had a perspex floor to ceiling wall, so you could see your little darlings whilst enjoying some liquid refreshments but couldn't hear them.

Caterina99 · 23/07/2023 19:31

I don’t personally enjoy it, but needs must. It’s usually either boiling hot or freezing cold and super noisy. And following a toddler through tunnels and things is never much fun. I didn’t mind it when I was a sahm as we could go during the week, but a wet weekend is a very different experience!

However I agree it’s much better once your kids are older, you can sit and chat with friends or chill with a coffee and they exhaust themselves running about for a few hours and ignoring you

What do you enjoy about it?
