DD has a strange mole. How worried should I be?

I'll start by saying I am taking her to the GP to get it looked at this week as DH talked me out of it a few weeks ago but I really think it needs to be checked.

My issue is that I have severe, debilitating health anxiety and have had for a few years now since DD was seriously ill with something unrelated, and I don't know how worried I should be. This mole does not look normal and looking back at photos from before it has definitely changed. It's also on her face. I am worried sick it could be melanoma? She is only 8 but has had a few moles appear this year. This one is really worrying me, mainly the weird spotty border. She has a smaller one right underneath which looks similar but with a more uniform border. Opinions on it would be appreciated

I should add the white bit running through is just dry skin which she has everywhere at the moment.

It doesn't look particularly worrying to me at all, it looks really quite normal from the photo. But as you are worried, you are doing the right thing getting it checked out.

Thanks for the reply and for the reassurance. I never seem to know how to approach this stuff as my health anxiety is really quite severe and I would hate to pass it on to the DC's. For me I think its the border and the fact it is bigger than it was, but DH thinks this is just because she herself has had a growth spurt so maybe he's right. It's also how many she has suddenly developed as she has had five new ones just since Christmas.

That looks fine to me, we're a very Moley family and we've all quite a few of those types.

Looks like a perfectly normal mole to me.

Looks normal to me.

Skin cancer in children is rare but if you’re concerned see the Dr. They should be able to send a photo to the dermatologist to have a look if they agree there is a concern.

Looks perfectly normal but always get moles checked anyway.
