I'm so worried about everyone caught up at the fires at Rhodes, hoping and praying everyone is safe. We have a flight booked for 12 August to Thessaloniki and I'm really worried about whether it will be safe or not. I suppose it's too soon to say but what are your thoughts? We have young children.

I'm the same, we're flying to Thessaloniki on Friday, we're staying in Pefkohori and I'm worried about the fire risk especially for our Asthmatic dc. We can't change or cancel without losing our money as the Government haven't advised against flying. I think we're just going to keep an eye on the news and weather and see what happens this week. The heatwave is supposed to ease after this week but who knows?

We are also booked to go out to Crete. It seems the islands are suffering intense heat. So upsetting

We are in Crete at the moment and depending on your setup you can still have an enjoyable holiday in the heat. We are on the coast and there is a lovely sea breeze and have a pool to cool off. Not planning on doing much other than lazing around at the villa though. It is lovely to be able to have a swim at 10pm and get out and not feel cold.

A portable fan which sprays water is great for trips to tavernas and a uv umbrella that you can attach the fan to for any short walks.
