Am I being unrealistic? How old are you, and how much do you earn?

Doing my tax return and depressed at how little my self employment brings in.
I have a degree in the arts from a RG university and over 20 years experience in the workplace I am 45 ffs and barely scraping £1200 a month
But am barely making any money

What do you do and how have you got there and how can I charge more for what I do?

Probably closer to £17k

You are correct it’s £17k. You get taxed so heavily you lose more than 50% of your income which is infuriating when you worked so hard to get that salary only for it to be taken away

Well, in that scenario, you’d both be put in five grand a month into your pension to avoid the higher rate of tax. And then of course perpetuates the cycle of those with money make money because it attracts to 25% tax incentive from the government as well as the capital gains

This was my thread and I had a crazy couple of months and (of course) am not much further on.
I have had a job interview which made me realise that I do have amazing skills but that maybe working for an employer may not be right,, as I need so much more time to recharge as I get older.
