DH is cooking a lamb chilli because it feels so cold and wintery here (raining ALL day) with wedges and rice. I'll be opening a nice bottle of Malbec as soon as DS is in bed and I think we've decided on Empire of Light for a film. How about everyone else?

Eldest DS left primary school yesterday so he got to pick tea tonight and he’s chose Chinese. Will eat that with a glass of wine or 2 and watch something on Netflix.

DelilahBucket · 22/07/2023 19:20

We had the M&S Mexican meal deal for a quick, easy tea that was cheaper and healthier than a takeaway. DH is watching F1 so I'm mumsnetting. DS has gone to his dad's house.

Ooh @PuttingDownRoots what's in a special wellington?

He uses haggis and black pudding instead of mushrooms (then steak in the middle). He adapts them to our preferences... mine has no black pudding, and DD1 has vegetables instead of steak in the middle.

I’ve made vegetable rogan josh and mushroom pilau.

Then homemade coffee ice cream for pudding.

I haven’t had a good cooking session for ages (DH has been cooking lately) so I’ve enjoyed putting some music on getting inventive!

What's the recipe for your homemade coffee ice cream?? That sounds amazing!

Watching the Pembrokeshire Murders on ITVX. Really good!

NoSunNoSun · 22/07/2023 19:23

We just had a family platter from our local Turkish restaurant and are going so watch the very last Succession episode.

@PlaceYourHands that all sounds lovely & homely! 😊

I'll be having Thai Green Curry

faffing about on line, so not sure I'll be watching anything.

MissingMoominMamma · 22/07/2023 19:24

I just had a baked Camembert with crusty bread. It was from Somerset and tasted bitter. I was very disappointed and didn’t finish it.

I’ll be reading a book later, if I can find it. My friend gave it to me last week and I don’t know where I put it.

I’m feeling a bit meh 😁.

Darkandstormynite · 22/07/2023 19:24

Homemade Chicken Jalfrezi, with a nice cold Peroni.

Watching Reversal of Fortune with Jeremy Irons. Old Skool here 😁

Firstshoes · 22/07/2023 19:25

I've just made a 'Bramble' cocktail after enjoying them during our Greek holiday that we've just returned from. Home made chicken satay with egg fried rice for tea. Not decided what to watch yet so listening to some music for now

Poblano · 22/07/2023 19:26

We had Prawn and chilli linguine, with a glass of Pinot Grigio. About to start watching Straight Line Crazy on National Theatre at home with the rest of the wine.

Tarkan · 22/07/2023 19:27

I'm watching Futurama for the billionth time. It's my comfort show and there are new episodes out soon so it's made me want to watch the older ones again.

About to make dinner for me and DC2 (DH and DC1 are both out at work). Having salmon, baby potatoes and wilted spinach.

It’s from the Ben and Jerry’s recipe book. You need an ice-cream maker, but the one I bought has more than paid for itself. I love it.

2 cups double cream
1 cup milk
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
3 tbsp good quality freeze dried coffee

Whisk eggs and sugar. Add cream and milk, whisk again. Add two tbsp of the coffee, whisk again. Transfer mixture to ice-cream maker, churn for 35 minutes. Two minutes before the end, add the other tbsp of coffee. Apply to mouth liberally until joy develops.

YukoandHiro · 22/07/2023 19:27

Indian takeaway, but i'm having a low carb version - tikka pieces, saag paneer and a chapati. Ruining it with a beer. DH has gone for veggie curry and rice

I think we're going to start watching The Bear but the (young) Dc are having an annoying bedtime so far so who knows if we'll have the brain space for something new

MrTiddlesTheCat · 22/07/2023 19:27

Cheese, crackers and pickled onions. I'd forgotten how delicious it could be.

LadyBirdsLoveEm · 22/07/2023 19:29

Some lovely sounding meals in these comments. I had a frozen pizza with a view of paw patrol. 😭

When DS is in bed I might have something nice that's just for me (like stashed decent choc) and do some reading in peace with a hot cuppa.

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 22/07/2023 19:30

I had veggie chilli with couscous and salad.
I'm rewatching season one of Gilmore Girls on Netflix.

Caterina99 · 22/07/2023 19:30

DH is out. So once the kids are in bed I’ll be breaking open the snacks and the g&t and watching something totally mindless on Netflix. Won’t be bothering cooking. Think I’ve still got some selling sunset left from last time DH went out for the night so that should fit the bill!

Hadalifeonce · 22/07/2023 19:31

Prawn stir-fry, glass of fizz and Mrs Doubtfire.

soundsys · 22/07/2023 19:32

Cold here too so we had a mushroom, squash and sage gnocchi thing and a nice glass of red 😁

(Doesn't feel like July, does it?)

Not watching anything as DH is heading out to the pub and I'm going to take the opportunity to read a book with another glass of wine!

MissHoollie · 22/07/2023 19:32

Home made curry
Lime rice
Nan breads

Watching random you tube

afaloren · 22/07/2023 19:32

Cooking a jalfrezi and watching a concert on Facebook live. Damh the Bard, pagan folk music if anyone’s interested :)

TribeD · 22/07/2023 19:32

Homemade Chicken Curry, Pepsi Max and Homestead Rescue here as well.

Weather is awful, its been a long week and I'm dreading going camping next weekend.

The Bear is so good! Try and give it a chance!

Bowlplatesoupandroll · 22/07/2023 19:36

Watching formula 1 qualifying.
Just had spicy pan fried chicken, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and new potatoes.
