Can someone help me ID this bird?

I’m babysitting for my brother and this little fella has flown into the window and knocked itself out :( I’ve put him in a box by the open window and hoping he’ll recover and fly away.

any suggestions on what he might be and what I could give him to eat from a normal kitchen cupboard?

thanks all :)

Nuthatch I think, just leave somewhere calm quiet and dark to help in getting over the shock, I'm not sure about food

Thanks both yes I’m pretty sure you’re right, it is a nuthatch.

I thought I was going to have to kill it 😣 but it seems much better now so glad I held off!

We get this sometimes too, they usually recover and fly off - my finest feathered friend was a king fisher (we had a river in our garden) stunning bird

Probably there was a strong reflection in the glass, so he did not realise it was a barrier. If you or your brother's family notice more bird casualties, it might be worth sticking something/some stickers on the glass.

That’s a good idea, I will ask and suggest it!
