Husband doesn't wash hands after the loo

Dingdong99 · 22/07/2023 11:01

Even after a poo!

I've mentioned it before as it's basic hygiene - he just went for a poo and then handled food straight after. He lied and said he'd washed them, but I know he hasn't as I can normally smell the soap (that's how I check my kids as well!!)

I think this is gross and not ok. But should I let it go? I've said something on 3 occasions now over the past few months and I know it'll annoy him if I go on

I couldn’t live with that.

SallyWD · 22/07/2023 11:05

Oh that's grim. To be honest I'm a bit more relaxed about men not washing their hands after a wee. My son doesn't even touch his willy, just stands over the toilet! But not washing hands after a poo is disgusting!

Mojitosaremyfavourite · 22/07/2023 11:07

Oh that’s just disgusting. Seriously minging.

There is absolutely no fucking excuse . It’s sheer filth .

Mojitosaremyfavourite · 22/07/2023 11:08

Incidentally, there is absolutely categorically no way I’d be letting him prepare or cook any food or anything for myself or the children. Imagine all the utensils etc he’s touching as well.
E coli is serious shit ( no pun intended)

Piscesmumma1978 · 22/07/2023 11:11

That is just disgusting.

Did you actually eat what he touched while possibly having poo on his hands? 🤮

Dingdong99 · 22/07/2023 11:13

It was raw cauliflower so will be cooked at least!!

Good to know it's not just me being a stickler

I think it's been going on for years / forever 😱

I absolutely hate washing my hands. I hate anything wet touching them (though it's fine in the shower or swimming pool when all of me is wet). But I still wash my hands after the toilet.
Is it laziness? The sink in a different room example? Or is it something he was just never taught to do as a kid?

LlynTegid · 22/07/2023 11:36

Time for tough love. No intimacy even hugging for starters. Utterly disgusting.

Does he not then touch the flush though which someone else has touched after wiping their bum?

fetchacloth · 22/07/2023 11:40

Deal breaking for me. Anything to do with poor personal hygiene is simply unacceptable 😒

Largeslice · 22/07/2023 11:41

It's definitely disgusting. However you've made it much harder to tackle by allowing him to go unchallenged for years.

Having worked in a primary school for a long time, out of habit I now wash my hands both before AND after flushing.

OP your husband is disgusting.

AnnaNims · 22/07/2023 11:55

That is just foul. I would be repelled by a partner who didn’t wash his hands after a poo.

QueefQueen80s · 22/07/2023 11:58

That is disgusting. I can smell when someone hasn't washed their hands, they smell of poo, wee, groin mustiness.
Disgusting man. And doesn't respect you much.

Jongleterre · 22/07/2023 12:01

Gross.

It's just laziness.

Would he agree to using a waterless hand sanitiser instead?

What is his actual reason for his lack of hygiene?

I would shame him personally by telling everyone he knows.

BringMeTea · 22/07/2023 12:05

I couldn't live with that. Utterly unacceptable.

whatausername · 22/07/2023 12:18

Revolting! So many side rooms in hospital wards are filled with people who have bugs that are spread via faeces (not suggesting they all have bad hygiene though). Why would he risk it? Can't be bothered with his own basic health and hygiene and doesn't care about yours. I'd chuck him even if he is a DH, imagine what else he doesn't wash...

Enjoy your worms.

Dingdong99 · 22/07/2023 12:37

I think it's laziness and doesn't think it's that important

OP posts:
Dingdong99 · 22/07/2023 12:37

His parents are religious about it so I can't blame them!! Plus he's 43 so a grown man anyway!

OP posts:
Dingdong99 · 22/07/2023 12:38

It's very off putting for sure

OP posts:
LMNT · 22/07/2023 12:40

That would given me the ultimate ick.

I wouldn’t let him touch me and I certainly wouldn’t use anything in the house he potentially touched. I’d have to leave him. Urgh.

AlanJohnsonsBeamer · 22/07/2023 12:44

I won't eat a single thing my mum cooks for this very reason, I stopped many, many years ago. It makes me feel ill.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 22/07/2023 12:47

Disgusting It should be automatic
I can understand sending a DC back to wash them but not a DH!
What's he like with the rest of personal hygiene? Does he brush teeth regularly?

YouJustDoYou · 22/07/2023 12:48

I find many men don't. The whole concept always repulsed me. It;s also one of the reasons I LOATHE mixed sex public/work toilets, urgh, can you imagine where their hands have been?? All over the door handles, the taps, vomit.
