A murder mystery to watch with DD 15

We really enjoyed Enola Holmes and Knives Out. DD is not a very knowing teen and certainly wouldn't like anything gory. Any suggestions please?

Gosford Park?

Old doesn't bother her. Our latest watches include West Side Story and Some Like it Hot.

Deadloch is very, very sweary.

It's brilliant, but I don't think it's something I'd watch with a 15-year old, we'd probably both get embarassed!

Another vote for clue. Really funny too (just get past first ten mins)

The newest version of Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?

MarmiteWine · 21/07/2023 21:12

Magpie Murders?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 21/07/2023 21:13

@istolethetalisker Glass Onion is one of my favourites!

thatsn0tmyname · 21/07/2023 21:14

The Peter Ustinov /Agatha Christie series. Evil under the sun, death on the Nile, murder on the Orient Express (not the recent one) and The Mirror crack'd with Angela Lansbury.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 21/07/2023 21:14

Not a film but Shakespeare & Hahaha is fun!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 21/07/2023 21:14

What about Enola Holmes?

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 21/07/2023 21:15

What about Enola Holmes?

Literally the first 5 words of the OP...

See How They Run is set around The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie, and has a similar tone. A slightly different angle but how about Blithe Spirit? There's a 2020-ish version with Dan Stevens, not quite a whodunit but you might enjoy it.See How They Run is set around The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie, and has a similar tone. The 39 steps, 12 angry men and The lady vanishes are all good older mystery films.

BlossomWood · 21/07/2023 21:27

BBC iplayer: Murder on the Blackpool express, its a comedy who dunnit with Johnny Vegas and loads of other TV stars. There's a second one called death on the Tyne, that's on my watch list.

dahliadaze · 21/07/2023 21:29

Johnathan Creek.

mambojambodothetango · 21/07/2023 21:30

Yes to Gosford Park. Same writer as Downton Abbey but far superior script. Rear Window, the Birds, Vertigo.

TwinsPlusAnotherOne · 21/07/2023 21:30

Oooh following

Heurgh · 21/07/2023 21:33

YY to Magpie Murders on iPlayer - very clever, and very shrewd take on murder mystery conventions.

BeyondMyWits · 21/07/2023 21:39

Castle is a fun American cop/writer/murder/mystery series ... currently rewatching the boxset on Disney plus

reluctantbrit · 21/07/2023 21:42

Vienna Blood - should be on BBC iplayer

AmyandPhilipfan · 21/07/2023 21:43

Me and my husband have recently watched the first two of the Sian Gibson and Johnny Vegas murder comedy dramas on IPlayer. I've loved them! I wanted to watch the next one last night but my husband was too tired after work. I'm hoping we can watch it tonight!

I was going to recommend the 1974 Murder on the Orient Express. Far better than the Kenneth Branagh version. It wasn't Peter Ustinov, though. Albert Finney, who presumably didn't want to do any more. Fabulous cast, and unsurpassed score from Richard Rodney Bennett.

Pashazade · 21/07/2023 21:47

The Father Brown series is also excellent and a very easy watch.

Northumberlandlass · 21/07/2023 21:48

BBC’s Sherlock! DS loved it
