Help me find this TV show from the 90s

I think I was in primary 5 or so (about age 8/9), born in 1986 so thinking it must have been about 1994/5. And every week, in the classroom, we would watch a TV show that I'm sure was BBC but easily could have been ITV (I'm in Scotland so could have been some alternative to that). It was live action, and the plot was that an alien was on earth and there was an educational element to it. I've thought about it frequently but never been able to find it despite lots of online searching. Would love to know if anyone else remembers it and could tell me what it was called!

Was it part of the Look and Read series? We watched Through the Dragon's Eye on that, it has echoes of that kind of series from your description.

We also had around the same time period a story we used to listen to about a little boy who I think was a castaway on a ship heading for the West Indies. I’d love to re listen to this!

Yay!! I'm so glad you asked this question. Every once in a long time, this series flits to my mind. I even wondered if I imagined it as I've never heard anyone speak of it, not seen it since childhood, not even seen any trailers/ thumbnails etc ever. But yeah I remember this.
Remember being fascinated as well as scared. Not sure if it was the idea of aliens, need to watch again to see exactly what it was about
