Just curious! And because I need to get into a better routine.

2 people say they doom scroll. What on earth is that?

I like to go to up to bed about 9pm, normally with the dog and we'll have a cuddle and watch TV.

I come down around 11pm, feed our kitten, let the dog out, give the older cats a few treats, feed the dog, then the dog comes back up to bed.

DH comes to bed around midnight.

DinosApple · 21/07/2023 07:56

Make the packed lunches, say night to DH, ablutions and go to bed any time between 9 and 11pm.

Open kindle, read two lines, fall asleep. Wake up with dry eyes (summer only) and still knackered at about 6am every day.

LindorDoubleChoc · 21/07/2023 08:24

Get myself a big glass of iced water. Open the washing machine door and powder drawer. Check back door locked. Clean teeth and wash hands (I only wash face if been wearing make up which is very rare). Vaseline on nails, handcream on hands, lavender mist on pillow, lights out and I'm asleep within seconds.

Baby in bed for 7ish, I'm back downstairs 7.15. DP cooks dinner, watch TV. 8.45 do washing up/any last jobs, then brush teeth. 9pm into bed. Write journal, read book or feed scroll. Sometime between 9.30-10 fall asleep. Up at 6.30.

I cannot believe I get so much more sleep than a lot of people on here, and I still feel like a shadow of a human a lot of the time. Baby sleeps through the night and has done for about 3 months now, so can't even blame him. I'm just a very tired person apparently.

Somewhere between 10 and 10:30 I put ddog out for a wee, put last dishes in the dishwasher and have a wee.
I Let ddog in, go upstairs, brush teeth, get into bed. Ddog then makes attempts to guilt me into letting him sleep on the bed (and it works 50% of the time).
I lie down, open my iPad and put my headphones in. DH gets into bed and switches the tv on to watch some nonsense about F1, gold mining or cars (cannot roll my eyes enough here).
I put an episode of something I've watched a million times before on my ipad, so some puzzle games (Heardle, Wordle, Quordle), scroll for 10 mins.
Switch to an audiobook and listen to that for anywhere between 10 mins and an hour.

My sleep is rubbish

ifonly4 · 21/07/2023 10:27

Around 10pm I feed the cats (unless we're watching something really good). Clean teeth and go and read my book in bed.

Verv · 21/07/2023 13:11

11pm let dog out for wee - have to ambush him and carry him out as 9.30 is his bedtime and if I just send him downstairs and walk behind him (living room is on 1st floor) he will divert right rather than left and run into my bedroom and jump on the bed where I have to retrieve him. His response to this is to go limp and dead-weight because he doesnt want to go out.

Carry him out, plop him on doorstep and tell him to go do a wee. He does, and it's usually massive so I grizzle at him for trying to fool me.

Wash hands, clean teeth, get into bed, he always parks himself at the bottom of the bed on my side so I scoot him over and give him his night night love.

Then I get into bed while he's still over the other side and get myself settled close to the middle of the bed to make sure ive got enough room and he moves to curl up behind my knees.

I watch Netflix/prime/series until 12.30 then put my white noise sounds on (rain) before falling asleep.

Everyone counts how many pisses they and their family members have? Really?

Scrolling down a feed on social media, for example.

I thought that. A couple of over-detailed posts 🤔

Scrolling down a feed on social media, for example.

Not just that, it's reading loads of negative news. It's quite bad for you.

LindorDoubleChoc · 21/07/2023 22:10

I assume all 6 billion people on the planet go for a pee before bed, whether it's in their luxury penthouse bathroom or outside in the bush or the nasty sewer in their shanty town. We are all the same humans.

Well, OP did ask the routine and that's a large part of it when you have to make sure someone else goes ... and if you have nocturia it's an all-night routine! 😑

DrCoconut · 21/07/2023 22:13

Crash after finally getting all 3 kids to sleep. There are additional needs involved so can be a challenge.

clouddprocess · 21/07/2023 22:32

You want to share number of wees, of self and family members, then carry on. I'd say that was too much detail in bedtime prep, but that's my opinion.

BeyondMyWits · 21/07/2023 22:38

About 9pm I take a multitude of tablets, brush my teeth and wash my face, put my pjs and dressing gown on.

Then around 10.30/11 I just go to bed, head hits pillow, I sleep.

It could've been worse, I could've mentioned celebrating nighttime poos from a constipated pet! 😆 But yeah, I take your point.

About 10.45pm, DP and I will head upstairs to get ready for bed.

DP has a long, luxurious sit-down wee while I brush my teeth and wash my face.

Then DP brushes his teeth and washes his face while I go and get the beds ready - cushions and throws moved, blinds drawn, lamp on.

Then we go back downstairs together and bribe the dog outside for a wee. Once she's wee-d, I carry her upstairs. I stand in the bathroom doorway holding her while DP does another wee and we both song her a song.

Then we go into our bedroom. I place the dog in the middle of the bed and get into the right handside of the bed. DP looks at himself in the mirror for a while and moans about how fat he is while I lie to him tell him he's not.

While he's doing this, the dog moves from her position in the middle of the bed onto DP's side.

Then DP does a playful argument with the dog which she loves. Eventually he shoves her over into the middle and gets into bed.

We chat for about half hour, DP goes for a final wee. Then we turn the lamp off.

Sorry but this made me cringe!

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 21/07/2023 22:49

Mine. Plan to get an early night and lay in bed and read. Then i think oh I'll just have a 'quick' look on Mumsnet and watch a couple go YouTube shorts and the thing I know it's past midnight

rickandmorts · 21/07/2023 22:55

At about 10pm I transfer sleeping baby to DPs arms. Go upstairs, do my teeth and have a wee. Get in bed and he gives me sleeping baby and goes down to let dogs out for a wee. He does his teeth, comes to bed, falls asleep in about a nanosecond which always annoys me! I tiktok, MN and read for a good 2 hours sometimes because it's the only peace and quiet I get to myself. Lights out around 12 😴

Mindovermatter247 · 21/07/2023 22:56

I go to bed after DP… I usually get in the bedroom then decide to try go toilet because I know as soon as I get comfy I’ll need to go. I then set my alarm, I check right move in the hope I’ll come into some money, then I scroll mumsnet, next I go on YouTube to make sure I’ve caught up with subscriptions… then I read till I almost drop the iPad on my face, then I know it’s time to sleep…

Bouledeneige · 22/07/2023 00:31

My routine is a lot later than you guys - always been a night bird. Aged 59, grown up kids - DD living at home at the moment for a while. Tend to go to bed around 12 midnight after tidying up and wiping down surfaces, washing and teeth brushing and adding moisturiser. Tend to go to bed and go to sleep listening to a podcast. I get up around 8am if working at home and start work at 8.30am.

marriednotdead · 22/07/2023 06:43

We go to bed quite early as DP is up at 5am and I have fibromyalgia so rarely have restful sleep. Run a bath around 9pm/shower alternate nights and I brush teeth/take off any makeup. Share bath/shower. Leave him to brush his teeth and clean bath. I put on face cream, hand cream and Vaseline my lips. Get into bed, put phone on charge and set alarm. Cuddle up and then sleep.

110APiccadilly · 22/07/2023 06:49

In theory, go to bed, read for about 30 minutes, headphones in, go to sleep listening to something (normally a Radio 4 or 4 extra program).

In practice, it's often, go to bed, hear a small noise from the children's room, spend 15 minutes listening intently, put headphones in, think I hear a noise, pull headphones out and listen, realise there's nothing but now I'm full of adrenaline. Settle down again and realise DH has come home (he works shifts). Go down and tell him about my day. Go back to bed and finally go to sleep about an hour after I meant to.
