Halloween stuff in shops!

Walked past Hobbycraft and saw some pumpkin stuff in the window. Presumed it was sale stuff.

Then went into TK Maxx and they definitely had Halloween stuff.

Saw some in another shop as well - can’t remember which one (Next?).

It’s not even August yet! It’s still summer!

I was in Primark last week and they had Christmas earrings in already

QuillBill · 20/07/2023 20:46

All the shops have Back to School posters up. We haven't even broken up yet.

I remember when I was a youngster, you never got school uniforms and school stuff in the shops until the summer holidays. When they started selling them earlier, you felt short changed.

We're halfway through the holidays here (Scotland). It used to annoy me when all the good deals would be on after school was back so it's good to have them now.

Halloween at Hobbycraft I can understand if it's for people making stuff in advance. Anywhere else is a nope from me.

LongLiveGoblingKing · 20/07/2023 20:54

Good! Bye bye summer, you've been shit! Take your sweat and your Wasps and your hot sleepless nights and fuck off.

Bring in autumn. Time for crisp leaves, pumpkins, got drinks, and jumpers. Let's go!

Bibbitybobbitty · 20/07/2023 20:56

The range also have Halloween stuff in.

Toohotforchips · 20/07/2023 20:56

Yes, I noticed it too! Weird. Hobbycraft and TKMax. I wonder if we live in the same town? I like to think ahead but I wasn't tempted to buy any of it. TK Max soaps however are another thing. I learnt about those from a thread in Style & Beauty. Smooth, amazing scents and last for ages, even in our busy bathroom.

YAY!!!

Diversion · 20/07/2023 21:00

Everyday is Halloween in my house so I love it. TK Maxx only used to get Halloween stuff in September, now its July. Need more spooky tea towels and more skulls and a plush pumpkin for my best friend and perhaps a couple of cushions although they never seem to have two which match and maybe another fleece blanket 😁

Anjie80 · 20/07/2023 21:02

I'm over the moon that halloween stuff is out :D asd son is obsessed with Halloween :)

Drews · 20/07/2023 21:14

Makes sense the Hobbycraft would have the Hallowe'en stuff in ready so people can have time to make the stuff in time for Hallowe'en. The sewing and crafty forums are already chatting about spooky fabrics for projects.

That's normal, people don't want to wait till the week they go back to buy uniforms, especially when they've got a few kids to buy for.

narwhalsarereal · 20/07/2023 21:29

Well no one is forcing you to buy it so does it matter

LlynTegid · 20/07/2023 21:30

Double VAT on Halloween stuff before mid-October would put an end to such marketing.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 20/07/2023 21:35

Tesco have the tubs of Christmas chocolates on offer... and yes I bought one.... which will probably be eaten before we go on holiday 😁

Nimbus9000 · 20/07/2023 21:42

I love the occasion of Halloween but find it incredibly depressing seeing all this tacky themed crap pumped out of China and flown across the world. Needless waste and pollution for one day a year. Soon we’ll have summer temperatures in October and Halloween will never feel like Halloween again.

Justdancinginthedark · 20/07/2023 22:37

Tesco had the Christmas tubs of sweets on offer today.

I know! Isn’t it amazing!? 😁

Halloween is when I buy a lot of my home decor. I use it all year round. I’ve seen a tea light holder in next shaped like a witches boot that’s top of my list. I love it all!

FFSwhatisthis · 21/07/2023 07:28

I thought matalan having a table full of Autumn stuff was bad enough!

MackenCheese · 21/07/2023 07:29

Oh they can get lost with their Halloween and Christmas crap in flaming July!! I shan't be buying any of it, I need to buy food....

GenieGenealogy · 21/07/2023 07:31

Hobby craft I can understand. Crafters who are making in bulk or making to sell will be making all year round so there is a market for Halloween or Christmas fabric or decoupage papers or whatever all year round.

In general though I LOATHE AND DETEST that we have about a month until shops start stocking mince pies.
