Living in a bubble

I sometimes think when I’m at work it is such a bubble. My peers are all well educated, presentable, ambitious, mostly slim if not physically fit, competitive and outgoing. Many of them are also attractive in their own way. They are polite, cooperative and generally really nice people. They take pride in their presentation. Well brought up, well spoken. I think majority have had great school experiences and from middle class backgrounds. Majority are higher tax payers. I appreciate their are support staff, cleaners for example. I work for one of the worlds top consulting companies. As soon as I enter my building it’s this bubble away from the hustle, struggle, poverty. It feels like it is the norm being in this bubble when it is not. I know in the work place there are issues always, politics etc but materially it’s not the same as outside of the building…in the real world. Kind of feels like I’m in a movie where we are all robots. Do you ever have these thoughts too?

I work for a global civil engineering firm, so… no. A broad church indeed!
