In case anyone was wondering how long it takes to ‘get over’ a traumatic delivery (lighthearted and content warning!)

DD was a pretty horrific delivery - failed epidural and forceps and episiotomy and anaesthesia free stitching for various reasons which were apparently clinically appropriate. I don’t talk about it a lot and never with pregnant friends, for obvious reasons.

Anyway, about 20 minutes ago I was toasting a Scotch pancake in the toaster and it got stuck. Tried a few things to get it out and in the end turned the toaster on its side, unplugged it and used two forks to get it out.

As said pancake came free I realised I was essentially recreating my daughters delivery and for some daft reason collapsed into hysterical giggles 😁

DD is 3 next month. So if anyone’s keeping score, entirely on the basis of my personal experience, it’s 3 years before you can laugh about it!

(serious note: suspect it might be still part of a trauma response to be laughing about this, but it’s a welcome departure from wanting to cry about it, so I will welcome it!)

The mental images of you wrangling a toaster with forks (I hope it was switched off!) and imagining your poor fanjita, whilst laughing about it......!

Definitely switched off! The nether regions probably aren’t as attractive as the toaster these days but oh well 😁

I was sure I was at peace with my first horrific delivery. Right up until I got pregnant again. . but the image of you delivering a pancake has cracked me right up!
