If I didn't have a family to feed...

I think I could happily survive on a G&T and some peanuts for dinner most nights. Could be just end of term knackeredness, I suppose!

I will motivate myself to get up and cook something any minute now. Aaaaany minute....

God I hear you OP!

I’d live on fishfinger wraps, kebabs and kettle chips dipped in humus on a rotating basis with sparkling water with elderflower

This all sounds lovely.

I bloody love cheese on toast too.

This all getting a bit complicated. Peanuts in a bowl was about as much as I could cope with. And I could always forgo the bowl.

So long as you have the G&T in one hand & a large handful of peanuts in the other, it's a balanced meal!!

are you still low carbing?

how's work going??

I would have the following.

Monday. Peanut butter on toast.
Tuesday. Cheese and crackers.
Wednesday. Weetabix.
Thursday. Pita bread and dip
Friday. Chunky kit cats
Saturday. Marmite on toast.
Sunday. Takeaway.

What time shall I be there each night?

Turnleftturnright · 19/07/2023 19:08

I probably only eat a hand full of cooked meals a year. I always cook for everyone else (different meals for health reasons). I definitely can't be bothered to cook for myself.

It's good to see I'm not the only one.

TribeD · 19/07/2023 19:09

I've cooked (🙄) this evening. I made a risotto because it was my turn to cook, and because I promised to make it. I would have been happy eating Party Rings but we've only got mini bags not a decent sized packet

DH is working this weekend. I'll stock up on Party Rings.

I went away on my own for a few days last week, nothing fancy just to a caravan by the sea, stopped off for provisions, a bottle of raspberry and cherry gin, 4 bottles of slim line tonic, 2 bottles of red wine, 2 bottles of rose, 8 cans of sprite zero (for potential hangovers), sweet and salty popcorn, cheese, crackers, some chopped prepared fruit (to go with cheese), peanut butter, bread and a large bar of chocolate. All went down a treat and not a proper meal in site (although I did go to the cafe on site for the obligatory fry up on Sunday) oh yes also got coffee and milk! sorted nicely.

Hello! 👋🏻

I'm mostly still low-carbing. I probably eat more potatoes than I should. I've never really found an acceptable low-carb alternative to the humble spud, celeriac has its places but it's not the same.

Work is a depressing topic. I haven't worked since Christmas, and frankly if you can't get some kind of acting work at Christmas you may as well give up!

Guinness, chicken and steak but if I'm being honest just Guinness 😁

saltrocking · 19/07/2023 19:14

I don't need to cook tonight. I'm on my own till 9pm. I'm drinking Pinot in the bath. Had lemon curd on toast for dinner. Happy days

The more the merrier, and even though the weather was quite bad I did manage to spend a day at the Lido (doing pretend exercise) The wine helped me deal with the bad weather and I was so happy that there was good WIFI and Netflix to hand! Actually had the best time doing nothing :)

fizzyfood · 19/07/2023 19:15

Toast and a cup of tea for me.

InSpainTheRain · 19/07/2023 19:15

Totally understand! The other evening I had a bag of crisps and a mug of milk.

Now your talking, I haven't had lemon curd in ages! I am not sure I am allowed it though on my strict diet of gin and chocolate with some cheese thrown in for good measure

It really was liberating to be honest! I was meant to be going on a girls week away with a friend I hadn't seen in years, she emigrated abroad and was over to see her family as well, but sadly due to timings she was unable to come at the last minute and my Nephew noticed I was a bit down about it and suggested I stay at his family caravan for free for a few days instead, he even drove me there, took me to Asda for necessary provisions (as stated above) and got me a owners pass for the week, so could have discounts at the bar etc.. he also poured me a glass of wine, told me to help myself to the 3/4 full bottle of already opened gin in the fridge and then drove back again returning me on Sunday to take me home after I was all rested. I think I may have to make this a regular event!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 19/07/2023 19:23

I was supposed to have a long weekend on my own at my SIL's holiday cottage earlier in the year. For various reasons it didn't come off, but I may try again next year, and I hope it'll be just like @Jenasaurus's trip.

Mini cheddars dunked into seriously strong cheese spread ( you can spread it on if you like effort) plus a beer ( or two) easier to drink out of a can of beer than open a bottle of wine and pour!

That’s so lovely, your nephew sounds like a star! I know what you mean about liberating, when I used to travel for work sometimes ended staying across a weekend rather than doing 2 long flights and it was so great to have the time to myself and suit myself

Jenasaurus · 19/07/2023 19:30
