Wondered if anyone had any similar stories regarding their pay and when employers were CFs.
In 2014, I was fresh out of high school doing an apprenticeship on £2.68 an hour/6 hours a day. Us apprentices were told we were also going on a residential trip. Not as extra staff, as actual counted staff responsible with 15 children alone doing activities. We asked for extra pay as trips were not written into our contracts and wages didn’t reflect that. Told we could have £100 extra that month for the 3 day trip. Never got it, ended up that for 3 days and 2 nights we were paid roughly £1.60 an hour. This was 2014!!
Another time I was working as a private nanny, before and after school and had hourly rate. On half terms the mum told me she’d only be paying me a day rate of £40 for 10 hours of work! I get that’s usual in nurseries/childminders but she wanted the luxury of me only looking after her little darlings in their home. This was in 2021 and I did not stay with that family.
anyone else have times employers tried to get one over on them financially?
