A prescription question

Do GP surgeries post date prescriptions? I am In Wales so have paper prescriptions still, pharmacy have just rang to ask if I can bring medication that I picked up today back because the prescription is dated 11th August.
Never had this happen before.

Yes, they can do this if medication has been ordered too early or if it has been set up as a batch prescription, this is only if you have a medication you have on a regular basis a gp can send over 3/6/months at one time with the future dispense dates on
