18 months ago I realised I had a lump in my left breast. Doctors referred me to breast clinic.
My breast was scanned (ultrasound) and I was told I had a 4cm fibroadenoma and was sent on my way. No mammogram or biopsy or anything. They said it was benign. Not sure how they knew that without any other investigation.
I went to the docs again about 6 months later as I was getting some pain/dull ache in my breast. I was told it was hormonal and related to my period. I've never had sore breasts when I'm on my period. I've been very lucky that I barely get any symptoms. But whatever i carried on with life.
Over the last few months the pain and aches are getting worse and more often. I can't actually work put where the pain is though. Its "inside" the breast and when I press on, there isn't a part that makes it worse if that makes sense.
Sometimes my nipple hurts too.
The pain isn't severe but I'm aware of it and my breast "feels" heavy.
Looking at my breast, it appears normal. No discharge. No puckering of the skin.
Should I go back to my doctors and demand another referral?
I'm 36 (well, I will be in a few days anyway)
