I travelled via T3 last week with no problems at all.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and it was minimal queuing. We are getting close to school hols now though so I assume it will be busier very shortly.

I travelled T2 at the end of May and it was empty (granted that was not the school summer holidays though although it was half term) We bought fast tracks for security and everything!

Thank you! Trying to work out how early we’ll need to get there this week- last year was horrendous

Flew out of T2 at 2pm on 8th July - queues weren't bad at all for check in, security etc, got through within 30-45 mins or so (with 2 small children).

We made the mistake of getting food at the airport as we checked in at 11.30 and the queues for the restaurants were worse than anything else Grin

If it was me, I'd allow plenty of time, ie walking into the terminal a good 2 hours before take off time, with a little extra added on as a contingency/car parking time.

So starting to park the car/get off the train 2.5 hours before departure, a little more if you have hold bags to drop off or are parked in one of the distant car parks where you have to find a space and get on a bus to the terminal.

Then you can plan for a relaxed coffee/breakfast etc start to your holiday, but will at least have time to grab a Boots meal deal for the plane if it all goes tits up and you're not going to miss your flight.

I'd much rather be waiting around in the terminal for an hour or two than to do ages of the stressy wait during parking, luggage drop off and security.

DH is there right now - was through check in, security and in the lounge eating in 40 minutes. Depends on your time of flight I think too, we've found early mornings much easier personally.

We normally give 2.5 hours if we don't have fast track or 2 hours if we do, much nicer to be sat on the otherwise with too much time rather than rushing.

Went the Friday before May half Term. Left Leeds at 2am for a 6.30am flight. After endless queues we had enough time for a cup of tea each (no time for a snack, or to look around duty free) and still had to run to the gate. Bloody awful experience, we got on the flight all hot 'n sweaty.
