If you could change it would you have your kids younger or older than the age you actually were?

28 and 32. Would like to have had them a little later.

LT2 · 18/07/2023 18:36

31 for my first. It was what I chose. Maybe it's too early to say whether I'd change it? He's 18 months. But right now I'm still glad I chose to wait until this age. Glad I didn't leave it any later though. I wanted to wait until we were really financially comfortable with a tiny mortgage, so we could do and but whatever we want without worrying, so we can make lots of awesome memories! Second child we would like to come when I'm about 34 (2 years away)

LT2 · 18/07/2023 18:37

That should say buy!

HermeticDawn · 18/07/2023 18:37

39 and wouldn’t change it. It was a choice and the reasons still seem valid.

NoSunNoSun · 18/07/2023 18:38

I had my third at 31, I wouldn’t do it differently. I loved being 49 when the youngest went to
university.

I had my daughter at 40, ideally I'd have preferred to be about 5-10 years younger but I hadn't met my husband at that stage.

35 - was comfortable and ready but l think 30/32 ish is a perfect age

NameChangeAgainChange · 18/07/2023 18:46

29 and 31 which was perfect for me. Just wish I hadn’t stopped at two.

Blanketpolicy · 18/07/2023 18:49

36

Wish I'd done it 3-4 years earlier but put off and off because of a stream of reorganisations, job changes and potential redundancy at my workplace that left us with a lot of uncertainty for too long.

Tontostitis · 18/07/2023 18:50

I had my first at 20, unplanned whilst I was at uni second a year after I qualified then their dad left and i brought them up alone. Both finished uni and left home by the time I was mid forties. I spent my twenties rearing children, my thirties and forties flourishing in my career. I'm now 60, retired, happily married been mortgage free for ten years and have 4 grandchildren I get to help raise whilst my very successful dc get to flourish in their chosen careers. For me it's worked out fantastically. There's no rules just go with the flow is my philosophy re love, marriage and children.

Ywudu · 18/07/2023 18:50

Younger, I had my eldest at 30 and my youngest at 36 but wish I'd had my first at 25-26.

smilesup · 18/07/2023 18:52

30, 31& 35 perfect
DH was also 21 (too young)

Me too 💐

fireflyloo · 18/07/2023 18:53

First and only at 28. Dh and I tried for a few years before that so I would've been happy to be a parent younger. It was a great age really as I'm 40 now and still feel very young with a 12 year old.

Jeannieofthelamp · 18/07/2023 18:54

36,started trying at 31 and still would have preferred to have had them in my early 30s, infertility had other ideas.

Dacadactyl · 18/07/2023 18:54

21 and 26.

I'm 38 now.

If I had my time again I'd probably have them at those ages still. I'd been to uni and was able to save before DD arrived.

Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like had we had them both 10 years later and had done travelling and stuff in our 20s. But then I think had I done that I'd be in a worse position because having DD so young gave us the impetus to save a house deposit etc (bought first house at 25).

I'd have blown all my money in my 20s if she'd not come along. When I look at people who had them 10 years later, not many of them are living in better houses.

So I think I'd stick with what actually happened.

Newnamenewname109870 · 18/07/2023 18:55

29 and will be 33/34. Pretty good, would’ve liked slightly earlier if anything - mostly because second has taken a while.

kiwivick87 · 18/07/2023 18:56

30,32,37 definitely more tiring when number 3 came along .

EmmaPaella · 18/07/2023 18:57

I was 32. No regrets but I wasn’t ‘ready’.

febmum24 · 18/07/2023 18:57

29 and will be 31 with second. I wouldn't change anything!

Marshmar · 18/07/2023 19:02

I had my first and only at 24. I would perhaps of waited till I was 26/27 but I always wanted to be a young mum. I enjoyed the baby days!

GoodVibesHere · 18/07/2023 19:03

31 for my first, and wish I'd done it sooner.

I'm late 40's now with teenagers, I'm menopausal and exhausted, DH's parents are long gone and mine are in declining health. It's all a bit much.

hippygirllucky · 18/07/2023 19:04

This is really interesting! I think I would have gone for about 25. I feel like I would have had more energy.

YearsofYears · 18/07/2023 19:04

30 when I was ready for my first and finished my family by mid-thirties. I sometimes wish I waited until 35 and travelled more first liked lots of my friends but I'm also so glad that the baby years are a memory now.
