Just what it says in the title - I'm looking for recommendations for YouTube channels that I can follow to learn to play piano.

You can't really.. just learn via you tube videos.
However... you can learn via book + video back up.

I started nearly 2 years ago.. bought a digital piano at the end of the lockdowns!
Initally I joined Pianote which is an online platform and it's pretty good (and has a great adult learner community) and used that for a year.

But..cost and all that, so I spoke to a local piano teacher and booked a few lessons and he started me on 'Adult Piano Adventures book 1' (Faber) from Amazon which he recommended.

Since then I've been going it alone with the series, PLUS on Youtube 'Piano with Beth'... a teacher who demos all the music in the books (she does lots of different books, not just those) and I have made steady progress ... the books guide you through reading music, using lead sheets, understanding music and how it works.

I'm never going to be Tim Minchin but I can now read simple music, play lead sheets, and it's great fun. I can even murder Fur Elise now Grin

Thank you so much for your reply. I'd love to have proper face to face lessons but can't really afford them. I know that people learned to play in lockdown using online sources and your answer has been very helpful.

Just go for it :)
It's fun, frustrating and addictive! I have no natural talent, but I can pick out a tune from hearing it and the rest is persistance, practice and sheer bloody mindedness!
