How many people live in your household?

I live in a big studio flat with 3 small children for. For now it works. I feel comforted having my kids around me as it wasn't so long ago it was only me! I feel sorry for those who live alone and are lonely 😞 like if something happened to me I'd like to know people would notice.

Put 0 if you live alone

4 people ( & 2 cats) in my household.

I lived alone for 3/4 years in my early 20s when I was a single young professional. I wasn't lonely, in fact, I was the least lonely of all my life so far & I loved having my own space and company and to have everything my own way.

I don't think people that live alone are lonely. I had loads of friends and lots of family and was always busy and my home was a lovely quiet space when I wanted to unwind without guests.

avocadotofu · 18/07/2023 18:12

There are three in our household; me, DH and DS4.

Ds16dv · 18/07/2023 18:12

5 . 5 bed house

TheChosenTwo · 18/07/2023 18:16

5 of us, 4 during uni term time.
There are definitely times where I’d like to know what it was like to feel lonely 😂 But on balance I’m very happy with my lot.

LeviJeanQueen · 18/07/2023 18:17

4 most of the time. 5 sometimes, as our friends adult child stays with us for uni/placements.

Hbh17 · 18/07/2023 18:21

2, but I know I would be fine if there was just 1 (ie me). I think there's a lot of joy and contentment to be gained from living alone, so I would never expect anyone to feel sorry for me if that happens.

Franticbutterfly · 18/07/2023 18:21
  1. 2 dogs. 1 cat.

Why 0 if you live alone? It’s 1 if you alone! Unless your question is how many OTHER people live in your house?
living on your own if blissful!

I want to ask this too. I live in my household, and I count. I’m a person, I’m not ‘zero’. I am enough. How insulting and patronising to say ‘zero if you live alone’

FOJN · 18/07/2023 18:26

Put 0 if you live alone

Why? Do I become a nobody because I live alone?

There's ONE in my household, ME.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 18/07/2023 18:34

I could just as easily say that I’m sorry for people who don’t have their home all to themselves but I’ve got more imagination than that. And to be fair, the OP did specify people who live alone and are lonely.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 18/07/2023 18:44

Me, DH and a PT dog.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 18/07/2023 18:45

2 bedroom house

truelips · 18/07/2023 18:46

Sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone at all. Was a little distracted whilst writing this thread. I really should cross check before I post things 😑

Are you sure OP you’re not trying to comfort yourself about your situation by putting others down?

AuntMarch · 18/07/2023 18:51

2
One adult, one child. I love my child dearly but confess I also love the place to myself when he is at his dads!

That’s exactly what it looks like, I’m afraid, there’s more than a whiff of ‘the lady doth protest too much’ from it

Why do people like you come on threads just to start an argument- seriously get a life.

Me and my husband and our two small
Children in a small two bed house .

verabarbleen · 18/07/2023 18:59

Oh and the cat!

1980to1989 · 18/07/2023 18:59

0, spacious 2 bedroom flat (spare bedroom is used as a guest room and office for the day job, I permanently wfh), and I absolutely love living on my own!

I'd really struggle to live with anyone and don't envisage ever doing so again. I'm mid 40's.

Justme68 · 18/07/2023 19:05

Me DS2 4 cats my dog and my daughters bulldog ( trying to find her a home)

MintyCedric · 18/07/2023 19:08

2, although all going well DD is off to uni in September so then it’ll just be me during term time…plus the cats!

Bonjovispjs · 18/07/2023 19:10

Also, I grew up with 7 of us in a 3 bed house, parents and 5 kids, so perhaps that's why I love living alone now 😁

To be fair your OP was rude, you pity people that live alone and ask them to describe themselves as zero shrug

There were (at various points, extended family living with us, house belonged my my dad’s uncle) 11 of us, 4 children and 7 adults, living in a tiny cottage. I love my own space as an adult. None of my siblings have children. I absolutely see the appeal of living alone.
