Standing order question

My husband is about to change from weekly to monthly pay so I’ve got to completely redo our finances. My question is: if I have all the direct debits and standing orders going out on the same date that he’ll get paid will that be ok? I don’t want us going overdrawn, even by a few hours. I know he’ll get paid ‘overnight’ but don’t know exactly what time

I’m thinking I might be better to have all the outgoings the day after just in case

Will it actually be the same date each month? What about weekends and bank holidays? I get paid the last working day of the month so the date moves around a bit. We have all SOs and DDs going out around the 5th/6th of the month to give a few days leeway.

Yes it’ll be the same date, or a day or two earlier if it falls on a weekend. I think your idea is sensible. Thank you 😊

I nominally get paid on the 24th of the month or the Friday before if it falls on a weekend. Most of my monthly DDs and SOs go out on the 25th through to the 1st - just in case.
