Buffet ideas

Hello! I can't sleep as usual so thought I'd ask for ideas. Me and my friend have always arranged a birthday celebration for each other. It's normally at one of our houses and we decorate, eat, drink and watch films with face masks ect. It's honestly one of my favourite things. She got engaged last year when I was going through a hard pregnancy so we didn't really celebrate it much sadly so I'm going to do hers as an engagement party theme. However I cannot for the life of me think about what food to get. We're normally together from tea time to the early hours so it needs to be enough to keep us going and I want it to be nice. Any suggestions?

When is it?

Makes a difference re: food on the season

For example, in winter I went "old school"
and did a cheese fondue.

Easy to put together with nice bread, sharp salad and charcuterie. Once the fondue was done we could nibble on the sides left over the evening and I did another old school favourite of pavlova.

Lovely in front of fire and a movie for a similar situation/event.

In warmer weather I'd probably do similar but make a nice quiche (soft in the middle- Rick Stein has a great recipe for crayfish/lobster and clotted cream quiche and it's amazing) and serve with salads.

Tbh I've been having fun recently revisiting "old" recipes like prawn cocktail etc or coronation chicken and realised we have been quite snobby about this stuff!

Well done it's fun and lovely. Its probably food from before you were born so maybe that's a theme you can use Smile

Are you looking for cold finger food or can you serve hot food?
