Child Benefit Query

I’ve tried to call CB but unfortunately cannot get through, so asking here.

I currently earn 47,000 and my son has just finished his A levels.

I contacted CB via their form, to let them know DS has left school. They responded with a letter telling me that I will continue to get child benefit until Sept 4th, when it will stop.

In the meantime, I have gotten a small promotion which begins in September and I will be earning approximately £51,000.

I may be being stupid now (and catastrophising which is normal for me), but will I need to pay anything back? I’ve read some bits and pieces and nothing is particularly clear.

I’d appreciate someone who knows their stuff putting my mind at ease. Thank you.

Nope. You won't have earned more than £50k in the current tax year so nothing to pay back.

Its also 50k AFTER pension deductions. So highly unlikely you will be over the 50k earnings threshold even if you only out the minimum of 3% in.

I didn’t realise that. I believe I pay about 11% for my pension.
