Why does my dishwasher stink??

Please someone give me the answer. It smells like wet dog.

It's only 6mo, has rinse aid and salt and a freshener thing. It still stinks every time. I don't put plastic in.

I've never had this with other dishwashers 🙄

Give it a big glass of vinegar and an empty hot wash.

Also, have you located the removable filter full of crud?

Yes it will be the filter.

I use vinegar for rinse aid anyway.

The filter is really easy to remove, just twist it out the bottom and then the metal grate comes out, that needs washing too. You can also lift off the spinning arm bit and will likely find mushy food trapped in there.
