Sweating on face - is this menopausal or something else?

Hi, this has been a problem for me for a few years now but I’ve never thought to ask if others have experienced this.

I’m 54, menopausal, no HRT and have recent diagnosis of high BP (on meds) - just setting the scene - and a few years ago I started sweating really heavily on my face. I noticed yesterday that all the heat goes to me head, my face goes bright red and then starts to sweat- is this part of the menopause? I was working yesterday and spent a large part of the day trying to deal with this (we were at an event).

Has anyone had this? How did you deal with it if so? TIA

I'm on a combination of ramipril and amlodipine - one of the most common side effects is facial flushing. Drives me mad - I look like I've just stuck my head inside a hot oven.

I've always sweated from my face. I tend to blend roll on deodorant in with some make up and a ton of mattifying products, and re-powder regularly

I’m a couple of years younger and in a hellish perimenopause. My hot flushes and sweating have all been in my head and face. Almost any exertion makes me a sweaty mess, from the chin up only. It has improved a lot since I started HRT four months ago, but it hasn’t gone entirely. I never used to do this until peri started, so I can only attribute it to that.

My sympathies are with you - it’s uncomfortable and embarrassing. I hope we both get better soon.

I had this when I was younger and acupuncture absolutely cured it. Haven't had it now for at least ten years. You have my sympathy, it was bloody awful.

OMG, I need to try this! I've had it my entire life and it is such a hindrance to my social life. I've never been able to get up on dance floors as I look like I've had my head under the shower within about 5 seconds of movement. I have to carry a fan in my handbag too, everywhere, even in winter. I just look awful, with hair plastered to my head and temples and neck all the time. I've tried using roll on anti perspirant all over my face, but it doesn't get chance to dry properly before I've sweated it all off. I was considering botox, but I don't think they'll do my whole head. Sad

I’ve also had great results with acupuncture and have just re-started it. It’ll take a little while but I’m hoping it helps.

I’m so sorry that others get this. It’s such an embarrassing thing to have (IMO). I spend so much time trying to deal with this that I could be spending on other more important things.
Yesterday, whilst others were enjoying themselves, I was in and out of the loo running cold water on myself or trying to find a quiet, breezy, spot to cool myself down and dry the sweat on my face! So tired of it.
Hope we all find some relief from it.

Thanks @thenightsky, I was thinking about getting one.

Nothing external ever made much of a difference to me, it was systemic within me and nothing seemed to stop it until acupuncture.

I'm definitely looking into acupuncture!
