Government Funded - EHCP

Hello, hope we are all well. Can anyone kindly share knowledge of changing from one independent government funded school to another?
My daughter has been in a specialist independent school on an EHCP for 2yrs but we would like to change the school to another independent school that also supports dyslexia and dyscalculia … would the Govt. still carry on funding?

Many thanks

You would have to ask for a review of the EHCP and ask for the new school to be named on the new EHCP.

Thank you so much. I will look into that.

My understanding is its up.to.the LEA to.agree funding and they have to.agree its the only school!.that can meet your child's needs
So.potentially they may agree ,but t would think.they would take into.account costings etc.

Yes, i think you would need to ask for a review and ask for a change in placement. You tend to need evidence of why the current place isnt working and why the other place would not.
How agreeable they are depends on the difference in fees.

Unfortunately, the LA doesn’t have to agree to an early review. If they refuse to hold one you would either have to wait for the annual review or request a reassessment of needs. How easy it will be to get section I amended will, in part, depend on whether the independent school is wholly independent or a section 41 independent. Ultimately, the LA may force you to appeal.
