Live in rented accommodation, haven't been able to open it since Thursday night. Tried switching it on and off, tried draining it, everything. Just will not open.
I've emailed my landlord and hopefully they'll come out next week to look at it.
Incredibly stressful! Never experienced this before, anyone else?

Oh, I was coming to say drain it and see if that helps, but I see you've done that.

Any chance you've put the child lock on? Have you switched off at the wall?

Have you looked up the manual for it online? The ones I’ve had have a manual override button somewhere

ThreadExterminator · 15/07/2023 22:49

Have you tried unplugging it for half an hour and then plugging it in and setting it on a new full cycle?

It's an indesit machine, will have a look online for the manual now! Thanks

I had the same problem with an indeset. Have you tried changing the fuse? Try plugging into another socket, perhaps outside of your kitchen? My kitchen( tiny galley)is on an extended loop and can only cope with a few appliances at a time. The electrician that rewired my house explained this to me.

Turn it off at the wall then give it a hard bang with the side of your fist on the front of the machine right near the locking / opening device.
It works on mine, give it a couple of bangs if the first one doesn't work

Check the filter and try draining again. There may be a manual door release somewhere.

I have got mine open before by kicking the door right on the lock/handle, once, really hard. Although obviously this might break it further so depends how desperate you are.
