Made a mental and physical step forward today

My son is 14, he has a genetic condition, had a life changing operation last year and can only access the lounge/ bathroom at home. He has not wanted to make the journey into the kitchen in his wheelchair.
During the week he's started to come into the kitchen and wanted to be more independent.

We've bought an air fryer and rearranged all the kitchen round today. He can now use the microwave, air fryer fridge and freezer by himself. He can get his own snacks and fruit and a drink.
This is such a step forward for him mentally to be able to be a normal 14 year old. He's got a bit of zest for life again. He's made a decision in himself and its great to see.

Before anyone comments we are bad parents that he's sleeping in the lounge, we're working on a conversion to the house so he can have a purpose built room and wet room.

Congratulations!

I don't think anyone will have a go at your parenting - you sound really proud. 👍

That's fantastic! Well done to your son, he should be so proud of himself. And you sound like a fantastic Mum Flowers

That's so lovely. I've just got an air fryer with a partial eye on dd learning to use it!

That’s really wonderful- you should feel proud of yourself and your family. Good luck with everything moving forward 💐

Thank you I'm not sure why I shared but it's not something I can share but I'm so proud of my boy. I can hear him downstairs practicing his walking on his Kaye walker. He's a stubborn bugger and it's the best thing.
