I have a 1.0 Ecoboost automatic and I love it. Never driven the 1.6 automatic so can’t comment on that. It depends on relative prices and mileages I think. I would go for the one with the lower mileage if it’s within your budget. I love the Focus I’ve driven one for years and years!

Not commenting on the individual cars but on engine size, a one litre engine is fine for a runabout in town. If you're going to be doing motorway/long distance driving, go for the 1.6

Mostly town driving but motorway for holidays once or twice a year , there very similar priced £500 in it
15 plate 1.6 has 35k miles ( PowerShift)
17 plate 1.0 48k miles (EcoBoost)

thank you for any advice

The 17 plate more expensive but only by £500
15 plate had a clean mot history
17 plate failed once and has advisories almost each time

im just unsure if power shift or eco boost better etc

With all those other elements thrown in, I'd go for the 1.6 15 plate. The names are largely marketing exercises. Engine size, auto Vs manual, mileage, mot record etc are much more important

Thank you so much I don’t have anyone in my life who knows about cars and don’t want to ripped off the only issue with the 15 plate is it has partial service history not full.

Price wise seems expensive but I guess that’s what automatics are ? Almost 11k for 15k and 11.5 for the 17 plate :(
really unsure whether to go for the 15 plate or wait to see if can get one cheaper however I currently have no transport
