What trainers do your Y7-8 kids wear?

For sport at school? DD starts at secondary - she's autistic, and her main concern with clothes is that they're comfortable, so she doesn't have a strong opinion.

But I remember this being a bit of a "flash point" for teasing in my day, if you had the "wrong" brand, so I'd like to get her something that at least won't make her stand out for the wrong reasons, especially as she hates PE anyway!

She apparently needs football boots, but I'm assuming will need normal trainers for other sport.

Jordan’s, dunks or air force ones (all Nike) dunks are by far the most popular at the moment!

nike

Expensive trainers don't seem to be an issue in my Year 8's friendship group though certain circles of children do like the particular Nike ones.
He's just wearing some Asda trainers for school PE at the moment and some (not expensive) Nike ones for home.
It's probably going to depend on whether her social group are concerned about brands/fashion or not

For sport at school is slightly different to leisure trainers I think. For the former I'd just get a fairly plain pair of Nikes. For the latter - I agree air force 1 or dunks according to my year 7 child. Funnily enough my year 9 couldn't give a toss!

She's the only one going there from her primary, so doesn't have a peer group as yet. I think I'll play it safe with Nikes for now!

She doesn't wear trainers except when she has to - she lives in boots year round!

Plain black Nikes at my dds high school and converse hi tops are the go to for a school shoe

School shoes have to be leather. We've gone for plain black Chelsea boots as that's what DD likes - she struggles with laces.

For PE shoes definitely go cheap. IME (unless your child does a lot of sport outside school) they wear each type of shoe for such a short period of time eg 6 weeks of football boots, then 6 weeks of trainers - that it's not worth spending much money. By the time they need football boots again in Year 8 they've grown out of the Year 7 ones.
If there's a parents facebook/whatsapp group you will probably find people selling on last years boots.
Go to somewhere like Sports Direct and just get the cheapest, plainest Nikes for PE.
