Ffs, sick bug hits the house

So much for a restful relaxing weekend. I've been up since 1.30 with both my children tag teaming me, one in en-suite, one in main bathroom, with what looks like sick bugs.

Husband cleaned the floors, got buckets and was back in bed asleep by 2.15 whilst I've gone between bathrooms emptying buckets, wiping faces, topping up drinks and giving cuddles. Luckily none on carpets or beds, they both made it to the bathrooms.

Finally sickness seemed to stop about half an hour ago, both bathed / showered and tucked up in bed asleep and guess who's feeling queasy now?!

I hope to everything it's just exhaustion and because I've been dealing with sick and the house smells but it's very unlikely.

Ffs I'm shattered have done a 44 hour week in 4 days at work with an almost hour each side of my day commute. I needed a quiet, relaxing weekend. Not everyone taken down by bugs.

No point in this post really other than to have a bit of a moan / vent

Oh no, so sorry to hear your weekend looks like a wash out. Hoping your children recover quickly and neither you nor your DH come down with it.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 15/07/2023 10:56

Thanks @garlictwist. The eldest hasn't been sick again. Youngest has 3 more times and the husband has started. I haven't yet. Don't think I'll be long as I'm burning up and my tummy is churning.

At least it's not next weekend when we are due have a weekend away

I don't understand why you did all of this last night and your DH was in bed sleeping, why didn't you share the load. Surely today he is on kids duty and you are in bed to rest and recover if you do end up with the bug.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 15/07/2023 11:06

@Tinkeytonkoldfruit he's started being sick now so can't help at the moment. But if I do start he should be over the worst

Oh I hate sickness bugs. They are awful, best of luck and I hope you all feel better by this evening x

Munchies123 · 15/07/2023 12:05

Oh, I hear you!

My eldest was sick Thurs after school. All seemed calm going to bed. The youngest was up most of the night. Now I'm feeling queasy. Like you I'm hoping it's tiredness.

Sympathies OP, it's rubbish

Piscesmumma1978 · 15/07/2023 12:11

Why did he go back to bed?? What a knob.

I'd be staying in bed today if I was you op x

NatTheGnat · 15/07/2023 12:14

Oh no! We had a horrible bug about a month ago. Went through the whole house. Hope you're all better soon.

Gandtonicc · 15/07/2023 12:19

Oh no :(
My partner and seven year old have just got over one
Luckily me and my two year old seem to off avoided it but I was absolutely mad about hygiene.

I've never yet caught one of there tummy bugs but my other half gets every one and me and the two year old always avoid it

startafresh123 · 15/07/2023 12:22

We are on holiday in Kefalonia, we've been looking forward to hiring this little boat all week and today is the day. DD vomited this morning but we hoped it might just be a one off so got the boat anyway but it wasn't a one off!! Got her back to the hotel room now and seems to be over the worst.

I could bloody cry though! Last day of hols too.. and I'm starving and can't get lunch anywhere!

monicagellerbing · 15/07/2023 12:22

This was us last weekend, DS was sick in his sleep! Luckily he was in with me as he didn't wake up when he vomited. Que DS and me taking it in turns to vomit and 💩 all day! Then Sunday it was DH's turn. Bleach everything!

startafresh123 · 15/07/2023 12:23

Good luck OP making it through!

monicagellerbing · 15/07/2023 12:23

It's the absolute worst isn't it OP. At least you know in 24 hours or so you'll be past the worst of it Flowers

Greenshake · 15/07/2023 15:23

How’s it going OP?

Greenshake · 15/07/2023 15:23

How’s it going OP?

I've still not been sick but still feel incredibly queasy. My youngest is still throwing up intermittently but going longer between episodes and mostly water now so hopefully it stops soon.

Oldest hasn't again and neither has husband.

I'd love to say we are over the worst but who knows

Hats off to you for holding out 👏👏

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 15/07/2023 20:27

And it's got me. Just as I was getting my daughter into bed. I knew it would. Currently camping out in the bathroom.

Just as well as I got all the ironing done today that we need to work and school next week. I have a feeling I'll be out of action tomorrow. And off work tomorrow unless they can just put me in the back office alone 😣

That should say off work Monday. Ffs, I'm useless when I'm ill, can't even type properly

Sending good wishes and dry crackers 🌷at least you still have a sense of humour about it all.

You're such a strong mum!!!! I'm so sorry you're going through this. This is my worst nightmare as I have severe Emetophobia. How are you feeling now? Did the nausea pass?

Sending love and healthy thoughts!!

Hiddiddleyho · 15/07/2023 20:31

We're in. 6yo's been sick 7 times this evening.

Only thing I can do really. Would cry otherwise. To add insult to injury I'm due on tomorrow so that will make it even more fun 😣😣

This may sound trite, but focus on how good you will feel this time next week - period free, physically well and having a great weekend away 🙂
