I'm home alone, wine and Chinese ready. But lacking in movie inspo.

Any great flims out there at the moment. I like quirky comedies, thrillers, cheesy romances. Anything really.

I have netflix, amazon video, disney plus and apple TV. There is loads to choose from but I could do with someone to help me narrow it down!

Thanks 😊

Dave Made A Maze. Free on Amazon Video.

Bonjovispjs · 14/07/2023 18:58

I recently watched Fall on Netflix after seeing it being discussed on Gogglebox, thought it was really good.

Superintelligence
Or
Identity Theft

Both with Melissa McCarthy, both brilliant.

MotherOfCatBoy · 14/07/2023 19:00

Old one but « About Time » is brilliant. Lesser known Richard Curtis romcom. Will make you laugh and cry.

Doggymummar · 14/07/2023 19:00

We watched the new super mario and guardians of the galaxy last weekend.

BlackberryTart · 14/07/2023 19:03

In the exact same position (except Chinese is only a microwave meal 😤)

I can recommend Fall also. Saw it a few weeks ago and thought it really good considering it basically has a cast of two!

Eminybob · 14/07/2023 19:04

Thank you so much I will check these out

Another vote for Fall. I had really low expectations but it was fab. My palms were sweating through most of it!

BlackberryTart · 14/07/2023 19:07

I've plumped for Identity Theft! Love both Melissa and Jason so fingers crossed (and thanks for the recco @BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz!)

A Simple Favour.
Excellent cast and acting, a really decent thriller/mystery/comedy film.

StillWantingADog · 14/07/2023 19:09

If you haven’t seen it
Crazy rich Asians

Ha ha, I know what you mean, although Googlebox did give a huge part of it away 🤣

I might put it back on again myself!

Let me know your thoughts after

Little snippets of this keep popping up on my tiktok and it looks really good!

I'm watching The Whale on prime. Pretty good so far.

Eminybob · 14/07/2023 20:59

I really enjoyed Air on prime. Its about Nike signing Michael Jordan in the 80s. Surprisingly very good.

Last weekend we watched Guy Ritchie's The Covenant, also on prime. I wasn't expecting to like it as I've not enjoyed his others, but it's nothing like anything else he's done. It was very good.

I always recommend About Time on these threads! One of my absolute favourite films and usually people have never heard of it!

frozendaisy · 14/07/2023 21:22

Not a film but series
Only murders in the building - netflix

After-party - apple

We only watch superhero movies

Deadpool is excellent - kids can't watch yet although the way they talk about it they seemed to have seen it via YouTube, and John wick they seem to know a lot about that as well

GSDmom · 14/07/2023 21:24

Another vote for The Whale

Rye Lane on Disney+ is lovely.

Is that because of the vultures? 🤢 I couldn't watch those bits.

No, just the height.

I've finished it now it was pretty harrowing.
