Passport question

BrandonFlowersTurkeyTeeth · 14/07/2023 16:33

My passport is due to expire 11 March 2024 (from date of issue) so with the 6 months rule, I can use it up till 11 September 2023.

I'm looking at going away in Europe on 3rd sept for 4 nights. Would you renew now and hope it's back in time or just chance it will be ok using my current passport?

The rules for France are below - you need 3 months on leaving to expiry, not 6, so travelling in early Sept should be fine.

Your passport must be:

  • issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check your passport meets these requirements before you travel. If your passport was issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added to its expiry date.
