I'm an office manager. I have a team of 14 staff and I report to 6 senior people. This week literally all of them have moaned at me non-stop. I have had to listen to people on salaries of 300k moan about their workload, how unappreciated they are and how they can't get an electrician at their Norfolk cottage. My team moan at me about their boyfriends, wives, they don't like the (free) office coffee. One is angry because he's used all his holiday but wants more days off.
I've spent all week smiling, telling people how valued they are, being positive etc etc.
My workload is insane. I've got family problems. I'm broke.
I'd like to moan too!
I think as a middle manager you just get shit from above and below despite whatever boundaries you set and making sure you're no pushover.
Anyone relate?
