How long to hear back after submitting a CV?

It’s been so long since I’ve applied externally (moved internally three times in the last 8 years).

I’m so ready to leave and I’ve found a great job which I believe I’m qualified for and have the experience. I’m just really depressed in my job right now so I’m checking every hour if I’ve had an email.

It can vary greatly depending on the company and how quick they wish to hire.
Could be an hour, a day, a week, a month... But either way, good luck! 😊

Unfortunately anything from 30 minutes to 3 weeks (or never, if you get a rude recruiter). Has the closing date passed? I wouldn't expect to hear anything before the closing date, and probably not for a few days after.

No it was only posted on Monday and I emailed them to say could I have more info, this is my current job role etc and they said send your CV - which I did … I think I’m just so desperate to leave but I need to not get fixated on it.

Come join us on the “waiting to hear if you’ve been shortlisted” thread on the Work board where we all share the pain 😁

I would suggest you send them a follow up email after a few days, a week maybe.

I work in recruitment for most of my roles we would not contact until the role has closed and all managers have scored the CV/applications. In a few areas like IT were it is very fast paced we contact much quicker (as soon managers have looked at the CV) as we want to interview asap so to not lose the candidate. Good luck!
