How do I do this maths question πŸ™ƒ

I had the same thread 2y ago but I can’t remember how to do it πŸ˜‚

For every 40h worked I earn 5h of holiday. I need to add up 9 months of worked hours then work out how much holiday I get from that

And despite being pretty good at maths my brain can’t fucking work it out πŸ˜‚

Times your total hours by 0.125 πŸ™‚ or divide by 8!

40 hours worked * 0.125 = 5 hours holiday
40 hours worked/8 = 5 hours holiday

9months = = 36 weeks (on 4 weeks a month)

You're working 40 hours a week? So 5 hours a week hols?

So 36 x 5 hours surely?

Otherwise, you'd need to work out total hours worked and divide by 40.

titchy · 13/07/2023 20:28

You haven't told us how many hours you work in a week, let alone how many in 9 months!

So work that out, then divide by 40 to get x. Then multiply x by 5 to get your total earned holiday.

Eg in 9 months you work 800 hours. Divided by 40 is 20. 20 x 5 is 100, so you have 100 hours of annual leave.

because I don’t work the same amount every week. Sometimes it’s 6 sometimes it’s 42 πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Then nobody else can calculate it either!

Only one month in the year has only 4 weeks in it.

52/12*9=39 weeks

Add up total hours worked.

Divide by 40

Multiply by 5

That should be it.

Then how the fuck do you expect anyone here to know how much holiday you'll accrue in 9 months Hmm

Did I ask for the answer or did I ask how to work it out myself? Maybe pull your head out your arse and read the OP.

Thanks for the help esp @DataScientist & @parietal. I have now worked out how much holiday pay I am owed with the help of how to do it.

which is what I asked for, not a magical fucking answer

I did. Your OP wasn't clear at all - there was no need to mention the 9 months at all unless you wanted people to tell you how much you'd accrue in that 9 months.

I also gave you the calculation.

You're welcome.

Calm down. You asked a basic arithmetic question but didn't give all the details. It's not surprising people asked questions to try to help you.

That escalated really really fast πŸ˜‚
