Somehow made it to my 30s without trying gin
Treated myself to a bottle of WHITLEY NEILL PINEAPPLE GIN
And regretting it because it's absolutely awful with tonic water

Could I mix it with coca cola ?

Well you could.....

I wouldn't! Maybe a ginger ale?

Some gin flavours though are just rank whatever you mix them with.

Gandtonicc · 13/07/2023 18:46

Maybe should of gone with a pre mixed Gordon's plain gin and ton to try first ...

Lemonade would be much nicer than coco cola!

Could you add pineapple juice?

Or even drink neat?

Ginger with pineapple might work. But yeah, if you wanted to try gin, maybe you should try a gin-flavoured gin...

KnickerlessParsons · 13/07/2023 18:54

Just buy a gin flavoured gin - Roku is nice - and get a plain fever tree tonic to go with it.

Gandtonicc · 13/07/2023 18:55

Oh no I can't drink it neat .. it's a bit better with coca cola though.
Ah well lesson learnt
I might try a can of Gordons g and t next time

IMO tonic is rank. We have ours with lemonade. Fentemans pink lemonade is really nice in a plain gin or Asda do a bitter lemon tonic which is the only one I like that's amazing with rhubarb and ginger gin.

crankyhousewife · 13/07/2023 19:27

I thought I didn't like gin but it's actually tonic water that I don't like. I actually really like gin - with lemonade. Try it.

Gandtonicc · 13/07/2023 19:31

I'll try lemonade next time as it was much better with coca cola

There are loads of really great tonic flavours now, some really "savoury" ones like basil and black pepper. I agree with others if you want to "get" gin, try some of those. I like anything citrus or pink grapefruit flavoured.

Gandtonicc · 13/07/2023 19:37

I do like sweet drinks like strawberry and lime kopparberg

Whitley Neill Gin is awful, its artifically flavoured or at least tastes like it is. Get some nicer gin and use Fevertree premium Indian tonic. I do have some pineapple gin that is actually nice - Garstang Pinacolada and it's nice with tonic.
Try a nice, none flavoured decent gin too, The Botantist is nice or you can get Mermaid gin from Tesco, Hendricks is nice too. Gordons in a can will be minging.

Ophir is my cheap gin of choice with a Fevertree tonic and a coriander garnish.

Currently drinking "Great Glen" from Scotland which I am quite enjoying with a orange and peppercorn garnish.

I went on a gin making course and now sometimes make my own.
