Would be really cool to see who was your famous role model when you were 18. Post a picture if you can.

I’ll go first - I wanted to be Justine Frischmann from Elastica - her hair and her confidence!

In retrospect I actually looked quite a lot like Magenta from Rocky Horror Picture Show, and should probably have worked that angle a bit more. But it wasn’t very cool in 1995.

if you asked me when I was 18 I would have struggled with the concept, suppose I might have said (young) Mae West or Deborah Harry.

I really wanted the 'manic pixie dream girl' look of Winona Ryder, Miki from Lush etc as a teen (was very much a late 90s indie kid), but unfortunately I am 5'8", athletically built with a strong jawline and naturally curly hair.

My time has come now, though, and my height/build and hair type are very much in vogue! Only had to wait 20 years or so. 😂

Me too - I had the figure but not the hair. Frizzy curls that would not go right in all the 90s choppy cuts I tried. Appalling disaster. Finally I've embraced the wave and look much better for it.

I'm not sure I ever thought about it, but probably Miranda Richardson as Queenie.

Boy at school kept telling me I looked like Annie Lennox and singing Thorn in my Side at me. I still really don't see it. (Did he fancy me? There's a weird thought.)

When I was 30 a friend told me I looked like Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth, which makes more sense.

As for style... well, I just wanted to be vaguely fashionable in a girl-next-door way (god I am so basic).

I wanted to look like Debbie Harry too. I was a fan of Blondie the group in the 1970s, and 1980s. I thought she had - and I still do think she has - THE most beautiful face. Utterly ethereal........ 😍

I didn't want to change how I looked because I was pretty decent looking back then. But I definitely aspired to look a different way, if I'd had the money.

I would have spent loads in Cyberdog and had some godawful tattoo by now. Luckily, I was poor so the best I could do was ruin my hair.

I'd have spit out my 50p vodka and coke if I could have seen what I'm wearing now.
