Books for 12 year old boys?

My son seems to be at an in between stage - he’s read all the Harry Potter, Alex Ryder type novels, not quite ready for adult books.

I really don’t want to let his willingness to read wane, but we are struggling to find books that hold his interest (the bloody phone isn’t helping 🙄)

any recommendations very welcome!

Has he read Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan?

My DS loved everything by him. Other series he has enjoyed are:

Wings of Fire - Tui Sutherland
Warrior Cats - Erin Hunter
Pegasus - Kate O'Hearn
Hunger Games- Suzanne Collins
Maze Runner - James Dashner

Following as I also need suggestions!

Has he read the Hunger Games? Mine loved that. And the Skandar books too.

Also I've been reading the original Jurassic Park & Lost World books by Michael Crichton with my younger DS (10yrs) as he's a huge fan of the films & the books are great.

Terry Pratchett beloved by most 12 year old boys. Too many titles for me to recommend. TP, when asked who his fans were, replied "teenage boys and their mums"

Pashazade · 13/07/2023 08:19

The Frostheart series is excellent
Princess Bride
Nevermoor (female protagonist but hopefully that won't put him off as the story telling is excellent)
Greenwild (world behind the door)
Ocean at the end of the Lane
Graveyard Book
Any of the Terry Pratchett books, my ds loves them
