Coedine, high / spaced out

I need to take coedine, 60mg. Does anyone have any tips on not getting a high / weird feeling from it while I acclimatise to it?

I've taken it before and had a high / buzz that was not unpleasant but a bit spacey. It went away after taking it for a little while. I just made sure not to take it if I was doing something where I needed to be on the ball.

I took some last night, woke up in the middle of the night feeling bloody odd, then threw up. Had to take another dose this morning, by which point I was feeling OK ish. Almost immediately I started feeling weird. Not a buzz, but like that awful stage of drunk when the room's spinning. Then it was like any noise I heard was inside my head, I can't explain it, but like any noise was causing immense pressure in my head.

I need to take it, it's not for pain so no alternative painkiller is appropriate. I just need to get through the process of getting used to it, but my god I felt awful. Anything anyone can reccommend to reduce that would be very gratefully recieved.

I took it just after food both times, as I know an empty stomach can make it worse.

Can you go to 30s for a few days and then go up to 60s? You could break the tablet in half.

It doesn't agree with everyone.

Curious what it's for if not pain management?

I've been on 30s for a while 4x a day, and been told to increase 2 doses to 60. I was hoping the build up of using 30s would mean I didn't feel any weirdness but apparently not!

@Housekeeperbatcocoa believe it or not it's to slow my bowel down. I've got a stoma that's not behaving, to the point I was dangerously dehydrated. Immodium was first choice but made me really really ill (worse than the coedine). I was quite surprised when they said to take coedine, but it's even in the leaflet that it's for diarrhoea, so not even off label!

My hope is it will settle down and I won't get the weird feeling after a few days, but anything I can do to mitigate it in the meantime would be good.
