Which Southern U.S States and cities would you visit on a 3 week road trip?

I've been planning to go to Florida with a friend and meet mutual friends in Florida. This has now turned into a 2 to 3 week road trip exploring the South.

My friends live in central Florida(Space coast and St Petersburg so we'll probably start there. We may visit Disney World but we're not too fussed if we don't.

Other cities on our must do list are Charleston and Savannah. Also we really want to see some of North Carolina plus Dollywood/Pigeon Forge is a must do for my friend.

Which other cities would you recommend?

Do you want beaches? Cultural things? Outdoor activities like swimming in the springs?

1 beach trip would be nice but we're not really beach people so visiting our friends in FL might cover that. Cultural. Absolutely. We both love museums and theatre. It'd be nice to visit some beautiful outdoor places.

If you're willing to go slightly north, Washington DC and Chesapeake Bay, Depending how far west you want to go, Houston.

Otherwise some combination (because I fear you would struggle to do them all plus your other destinations) of Baton Rouge, Nashville, Atlanta, and New Orleans, but be prepared for a bit of a shock in NO and choose your accommodation carefully - it is having a tough time at the moment.

Pigeon forge / gatlinburg for Smokey mountain hiking ( get a cabin with a hot tub)

Louisville for bourbon distillery tours

Pensacola florida or Hilton head (Carolina's) for beach
