Champagne suggestions

Can anyone suggest a light easy to drink champagne please? I love cliquot but it's a bit out of my price range at the moment.

@Verite1 I've always disliked Moet, along with Lanson!

Aldi one is good, about £14.99 a bottle. Also good call on the Cremant.

I really like this one from Waitrose. It is frequently on offer for under £20 a bottle, and I stock up on a few bottles.

@Verite1

I agree about Moët. Got a bottle for my birthday as a treat and wish I hadn't bothered.

I swear it used to be nicer?

DogInATent · 12/07/2023 16:36

Chapel Down Sparkling Bachus.
It's not champagne, but it's very nice.

We buy lidl own brand, its lovely. If budget still doesn't stretch their Prosecco is decent too

gogomoto · 12/07/2023 16:42

Cremant de Loire (also lidl) is another option

YouCantTunaFish · 12/07/2023 16:44

Bouvet from Majestic is great as well

They also do a cremant

Last time I was given it, I could not actually finish the glass. I don’t know why people buy it!

Second this!

Italian Franciacorta uses the Champagne Method & it's lovely. The most famous are Ferrari and Berlucchi) Trentodoc is also good but I'm not sure how easy it is to get in UK. Both very different from Prosecco. Another vote for British Sparkling wine too.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 12/07/2023 17:45

Cremant is gorgeous!

Outlookmainlyfair · 12/07/2023 17:55

Did a massive tasting (it was tough) as we like Veuve too the best we found was Heidsieck monopole gold top. Not as cheap as the Aldi / Lidl etc but really does taste like a good champagne.

stuffnthings · 12/07/2023 18:02

Another fan of Cremant here too. The Wine Society has some excellent fizz that is well priced too.

blahblahblah1654 · 16/07/2023 17:56

I ended up buying a Lidl champagne for 13.99 and it wasn't too bad. More for convenience as I have one within walking distance. I have Cremant on my list for next weekend, thanks all!

The Lidl Loire Cremant is delicious, often choose it over champagne.

blahblahblah1654 · 16/07/2023 18:15

@DoThePropeller I'll definitely get some next weekend then!

My favourite is Veuve Cliquot too, I like Heidsieck but like everyone else would go for a lovely Cremant.
