School reports primary

Are primary school reports actually true ?
Ds in year 2 mostly says working towards. That does seem about right.

But other ds who's year 3 . It. Says some of the stuff like , writing, English etc he's at expected level. IN PE he stands with his arms folded and won't join in. But they have put expected level for PE. He has autism/SEN and a 121 and last I knew he was, working 2+ years behinde . And I can tell he's still behinde. Which is not a problem. But I don't understand why the report says different.

Do you have an opportunity to ask the teacher?

Reports are written based on the teacher’s knowledge of the child and the data produced over time.

Work towards mean they are not at the expected level for their age. Have you not had parents evening throughout the year? This should have been already discussed.

You need to go and talk to the teachers.

Yes i know what it means. Ds who's in year 2 is working towards in most of his subjects. Which I know means he's a bit behinde.

But other ds year from they are saying he's working at expected level. I know he's not. He's not even at year 2 level

If it's just PE you think is off, I wouldn't worry about it. It could be that the person teaching PE has not given any feedback to the class teacher who writes reports. If it is a few other subjects you are questioning, I would try and get a conversation with the class teacher.

Its all of them. Its not Important enough to make a fuss. As he's working at the level suited to him. And he's year 3 so the report is not going to impact.

It was just a general question really

If that's the case it will make things really tough for his teacher next year.

Why would that be the case ?

Because they won't be able to show progress if when the child starts in their class they aren't at the level they have been reported to be at.

Ah I see maybe it's best to say something then. I thought his 121 would point it out . But I guess as his mum I should to. I don't want his new teacher to think he's not trying
