Our family were supposed to be flying to Lanzarote next Thursday but I've just been diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 cancer and my travel insurance is refusing to cover me. So we need to find a UK holiday instead.

I#-'m due to start chemo as soon as we were due back so we have to go next weekend (for a week). Does anyone fancy helping me find a holiday home? I know beggars can't be choosers but I am going to be fussy as this may be the last holiday I have with my family for a while (or ever). So criteria are:

Non-negotiable:
Arrival Fri 21st or Sat 22nd July for 7 days
3 bedrooms
Swimming pool (happy to share pool with owners only)
Pool table

Other
Ideally not on any kind of complex
West Country, South west Wales or Norfolk
Fully equipped kitchen
Access to a grassy area for football

Would be nice:
Near sea
Walking distance of a pub

Budget - up to around £4,000 although would prefer to spend less, but also if there is somewhere amazing for say £5,000 we might consider it.

Would love it if anyone could help.

Try World First travel insurance they cover cancer diagnosis

TorviShieldMaiden · 11/07/2023 15:56

Have you tried different travel insurers? There are ones that cover terminally people, such as staysure.

I don't know if you'd be happy with this pool and pool table set up www.sykescottages.co.uk/cottage/Devon-Fowley-Cross/Ridges-Retreat-No-7-Kigbeare-Lodges-1102363.html#duration=7&start=2023-07-21&changeover=5

I'm so sorry about your news, OP.

My mum had stage 4 cancer and had arranged insurance through Insurancewith for a trip to Norway, so maybe they would be worth a try. I hope you find the perfect place for a lovely time with your family Flowers

AppaTheSixLeggedFlyingBison · 11/07/2023 16:08

The first one has a pool table, not sure on the others. They all have private pools though

Doidontimmm · 11/07/2023 16:08

https://abnb.me/tzazMYkKlBb no pool table though

AppaTheSixLeggedFlyingBison · 11/07/2023 16:11

Sorry that last one might not be a private pool.

The 1st and 3rd deffo have pool and pool/snooker table

I would look at other insurance however.... You are still entitled to emergency care using your ehic card

I would go. The only thing that ethics don't Cover is repatriation costs and that's a gamble but the likely hood of you requiring that is slim
I have never taken out insurance and I have used the emergency health care a couple of times.

Go, relax and enjoy your holiday

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 11/07/2023 16:17

I would try and get insurance via a different broker and go on your holiday. I was diagnosed with BC in 2018 and didn't go on holiday and in hindsight I really wish we'd gone. Flowers

Yeah, have tried to get alternative cover but the premiums in over £2k. My cancer is rare, advanced and unpredictable so I would never consider going without proper cover.

I've made my peace with not going abroad and would react just like dome help to find a UK alternative please

Just looked on Hoseasons and found this. Not a private swimming pool though unfortunately.

www.balbinny.com

I know it's Scotland but it's a absolute cracking place and has everything you ask for plus it's less than £2000 for the week. It has availability too.

glitterbumps · 11/07/2023 16:57

I know you don't want to bother with any more insurance information, but this might help someone else as well. Try battleface.com, they cover all kinds of things no ordinary insurers will touch.

TimeforaGandT · 11/07/2023 17:28

Comes in at £4514 for your dates
