Northumberland beaches

Hi

Looking for recommendations for beaches in Northumberland that would have a shop nearby for buckets and spades. Have had an impromptu stop here on a trip north due to a car breakdown and kids are keen for a beach but want some toys to play with.

Thanks

Seahouses has lots of shops, or Seaham if you're further south?

Where abouts in Northumberland are you?

Hullobaby · 11/07/2023 12:42

We are near Alnwick.

Hmm. Northumberland has some fabulous beaches but most of them don't have shops that sell beach toys. I think Seahouses is your best bet. As you are near Alnwick your nearest and IMO one of the best beaches is Alnmouth, but I don't think they have shops that sell beach toys. You might be better off going into Alneick and trying Lidl or one of the other supermarkets.

Amble and there is a shop on the main street that sells beach things and the little shore is lovely. Or buy the items in Amble and drive to druridge Bay and there's also a park and a lake? I grew up there

Alnmouth

None of the beaches near Alnwick have shops at the beach. Alnmouth beach is actually at the end of the village main street so you might find something but I wouldn't bank on it. They used to have a beach toy exchange box there too but it's pot luck if there's anything in it.

Go to Lidl, Aldi or Wilko in Alnwick, buy a bucket and spade, and then go to the beach.

Sugar Sands is stunning.

Alnmouth village store has a stand of beach toys outside it. Round the corner from the beach. Or Sainsbury's if you're passing it
