Jeremy Hunt is, once again, his own rhyming slang.

He has said that nurses and teachers can only get the pay rises recommended by independent pay review bodies if the money is raised through cuts to hospitals and schools.

THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO CUT, JEREMY. Although I suppose that schools and hospitals with no staff left in them would be cheaper to run.

Back to the drawing board with you. Maybe another look at that covid fraud debt your boss wrote off? Energy company profits? The spare change from down the back of Rishi's sofa? Stop paying Nadine Dorries for doing fuck-all?

Funny the pay review bodies “couldn’t just be ignored” when they were recommending 1-2% pay rises, but now they are recommending pay rises closer to the actual rate of inflation (but still below, so still a real-terms cut) it’s suddenly perfectly possible to ignore them 🤔

noblegiraffe · 10/07/2023 23:00

The pay review bodies also can't be ignored and must be reluctantly accepted when they recommend large pay rises for MPs.

Did they cut the subsidy in the House of Commons bar and restaurant to give MPs their above average pay rises?

@noblegiraffe you are sooooo last year 🙄. Schools don’t need teachers - they’re an optional extra in the Tory nirvana where if you can’t pay you’re clearly one of those “feckless poor”. The ones we would have learnt about in history - if there were any teachers left to teach us 😢

BiscuitsandPuffin · 10/07/2023 23:08

Despicable. All Labour have to do to win is put together a platform properly funding schools and health and they'd get a landslide. But they don't. 🧐

thecatfromjapan · 10/07/2023 23:10

There really is nothing left to cut.
And the wages really do need to rise.

He's stuffed, really.

noblegiraffe · 11/07/2023 07:42

Yes, if the independent pay review bodies are recommending it, then he can't go blaming 'greedy teachers' or whatever for unrealistic expectations.
