Strange things that have no meaning

So I had my birthday yesterday and as I was standing up all my cards I got thinking.

Ever since I was little, the rule in my parents house and one I have continued to follow is:
birthday cards and balloons stay up for one week then they’re taken down.

But why?! Seems like a random rule when you think about it but I’ve always just carried on and followed it even into my adult years!

What other rules and structures do you follow that actually, when you think about it, are quite random?

😂

Saluting a single magpie and asking after his wife.

That sounds like a lovely thing to do

Cards as a kid we kept up a week. But not now. Dcs is maybe 3 days. Mine and dh the following evening. Can't abide the clutter

Always making sure Christmas cards and decorations are taken down on or before January 6th. But not before New Year’s Day because I find that a bit ‘bah humbug’.
