Different mugs for different drinks.

You wouldn't want your tea in a hot chocolate mug

My ember. It has a battery in the base and keeps my coffee hot. There's even an app you can use to control it. Bloody brilliant not having to warm the coffee up in the microwave.

I've just bought myself a Blue Calico breakfast cup in the Burleigh pottery sale: it's for cappuccinos only. It's perfect.

I have several mugs I'm fond of, and a couple I take to my weekly knitting group, but this at-home one is still my favourite. Bought it at a newsagent in Queensland. The scars are from being dropped on concrete - it's a tough mug, I thought it would break, but no!

My work mug is a fat based one because I kept knocking over my old one. It's been with me for 10+ years now. I have my home mug that I have also had for years. I could never swap them over. Home mug is home mug, work mug is work mug, that's just the way it is.

My Kings & Queens of England mug (EH Shop) Didn't realise hope much I loved it until it got cracked & I had to track down a replacement. Perfect weight, size & depth of China.

I have two ‘work mugs’ in my home mug cabinet which have been with me since 2004. One of them I won in a raffle, and another a lovely man left for me when he retired, because I borrowed it so much.

I still use them but my current favourite is a ‘Balzac’ mug (pretentiously).

Big, fat, colourful and chunky - hot chocolate
Tall, white china, Shakespeare theme - tea
Very short, very fine white china (with gorgeous blue outside) - coffee

I love Emma Bridgwater mugs especially the polka dots one

User68253 · 11/07/2023 00:40

No, I chose a different one depending on the time of day. If it's morning and I feel a bit queasy or don't have time for a big drink I choose the small spotty or small Christmas mug. If I'm really thirsty it's my big turquoise one, but tea is weak in it. ilif I'm dehydrated it's quantity over quality. I then have an order of preference for all the others. My absolute favourites tend to get broken quickly. I used to always ask for Creative Tops china ones for my birthday/Christmas, I loved the Kew Gardens and Into the Wild collections and they were the perfect size, but I had each set twice and I/a toddler kept dropping them on my tiled floor.

An Emma Bridgwater one (I’ve a few) but I like my frog one

smokingcarriageonly · 11/07/2023 00:47

Arcoroc smoked glass caff mugs for tea. I had one I'd bought from the charity shop and once it became indispensible I got nervous it would get broken and bought a box of four.
Thick enough to hold the heat, just the right amount of water to make a good strong cup, not so big that the tea gets cold before you finish it. I don't like a huge mug, don't want a pint of lukewarm, dishwatery tea thanks.

RicherThanYews · 11/07/2023 01:08

This is mine, bought it secondhand in an animal charity shop for 25p about 10 years ago. It's my main cup, I do have 6 other for specific drinks, times and days because issues.

This is one of my favourite mugs from Cream Cornwall. It gets used mainly for coffee, not tea but I still prefer a bone china mug. Just feels nicer. I've got the seahorse and the octopus.
